DSS Launches Online Harbour Ferry E-Ticketing and QR Verification in Sri Vijaya Puram

The Directorate of Shipping Services (DSS), under the Andaman & Nicobar Administration, has officially launched online daily harbour ferry ticketing through the STARS E-Ticketing Portal. Implemented with immediate effect, this initiative represents a major step toward digital transformation, designed to enhance passenger convenience and improve the efficiency of harbour ferry services.

Key Features of the New E-Ticketing System

• Flexible Booking Options: Passengers can conveniently book both One Way and Round Trip (Return) tickets online for all operational harbour ferry routes within Sri Vijaya Puram.
• Ticket Validity: Tickets booked through the online portal are valid for a single journey specifically on the date of issuance.
• Monthly Pass Renewals: In a boost for regular commuters, the online renewal of Monthly Passes is now available.
• Enhanced Security: A new QR-based Digital Verification System has been implemented to guarantee secure and seamless passenger authentication.
• Instant Digital Validation: All Daily E-Tickets and Monthly Passes will feature a unique QR code. Checking Inspectors at the Jetties will use a dedicated mobile verification app to scan these codes for instant validation.

Development and Offline Alternatives

The successful implementation of this advanced online daily harbour ferry ticketing system was facilitated by CRIS (Centre for Railway Information System).

While the DSS highly encourages all passengers to take advantage of this new digital facility for a more comfortable, time-saving, and hassle-free travel experience, traditional methods remain available.
