Forest department rules are strict: All trekkers must return to the gate before 4:30 PM. Because the trek takes nearly 10 hours, you must start your journey between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM to reach the summit and back safely.
The initial 1.5 hours of the trail is relatively flat, winding through ancient tropical forests. You will cross a crystal-clear freshwater stream which serves as a final "refresh point" before the steep climb begins.
After about 3 hours of steep climbing, you reach the first major viewpoint. From here, the canopy opens up to reveal a stunning panoramic view of the blue ocean and the scattered islands of North Andaman.
The trek starts from the main gate of Saddle Peak National Park, accessible via a short cab ride from Diglipur town.
Saddle Peak isn't just a trek; it's a test of endurance through the wildest part of the Andaman Islands. Ensure you have your forest permit and a local guide before you start.
