A&N Administration Revises Minimum Wage Rates Effective July 1, 2026

Sri Vijaya Puram: In a major update for the workforce and employers across the Union Territory, the Honโ€™ble Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands has officially approved a revision of the Minimum Rates of Wages. The new rates will come into effect starting July 1, 2026.

This timely adjustment accounts for the latest Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA), calculated based on the average increase in the All India Consumer Price Index as per the regulations laid out under the "Code on Wages, 2019". The updated wage structure applies universally to all forms of employment, including government departments, commercial offices, and industrial establishments.

New Daily Wage Breakdown:

  • Unskilled Workers: โ‚น660.00 per day

  • Semi-Skilled / Unskilled Supervisory: โ‚น741.00 per day

  • Skilled / Clerical Personnel: โ‚น864.00 per day

  • Highly Skilled Professionals: โ‚น947.00 per day

The Labour Commissioner & DET has emphasized that all employers must strictly implement these updated figures immediately. Failure to comply with the revised scale will lead to strict punitive actions under the statutory provisions of the Code on Wages, 2019.
