Applications Invited for Operation of Transparent Kayaks at Swaraj Dweep

Sri Vijaya Puram: The Directorate of Information, Publicity & Tourism, A&N Administration, proposes to permit the operation of transparent kayaking activities at the Neem-o-Reef-Jetty stretch, Swaraj Dweep. This initiative is in accordance with the recommendations of the Risk Assessment Report carried out under the provisions of the A&N Islands Watersports Guidelines, 2015.

Proposed Operational Area

The designated operational zone extends between the Jetty-Neem-o-Reef, Swaraj Dweep. It has been identified as a highly suitable location for kayaking activities to decongest the existing Jetty-Lighthouse stretch.

• Latitudinal: 12°2'436" North to 11°58.669" North
• Longitudinal: 095°59'030" East to 093°1.140" East

The Neem-o-Reef stretch is renowned for its rich marine biodiversity, underwater flora, and fauna. In order to enhance the visitor experience and promote eco-friendly tourism, permission in the proposed area shall be strictly restricted to transparent kayaks only. This enables tourists to view and appreciate the marine ecosystem safely while kayaking.

How to Apply

Interested kayak operators, centres, and tourism stakeholders desirous of operating transparent kayaks in the proposed area are invited to submit their applications to the Adventure Watersports Section, Directorate of IP&T.

• Important: A maximum of two (02) transparent kayaks shall be permitted per applicant for operation in the said area.
• Detailed terms and conditions, checklists, eligibility criteria, and application procedures may be obtained from the Adventure Watersports Section of Directorate of IP&T.
