First Academic Council Meeting of NSCBIHL Deemed University Convened in Sri Vijaya Puram

Marking a historic milestone in the academic governance of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the newly designated Deemed to be University, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Institute of Higher Learning (NSCBIHL), successfully conducted its inaugural Academic Council meeting. The landmark session was convened at the Secretariat Conference Hall in Sri Vijaya Puram, under the chairmanship of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Alok Kumar Rai.

The high-level meeting focused on institutional strengthening, robust academic planning, and setting a structured framework for higher education standards across the region.

  • Academic Framework & Regulations: The Council formally approved comprehensive academic and examination regulations. These new policies ensure absolute compliance with the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines and respective Statutory Regulatory Authority standards.
  • Curriculum Delivery and Evaluation: A structured framework was finalized to streamline curriculum delivery, establish rigorous internal monitoring systems, and enhance institutional evaluation methods.
  • Admissions for Academic Year 2026-27: In a significant directive for local students, the Academic Council resolved that the upcoming student intake for the Academic Year 2026-27 will officially commence across all constituent colleges operating under the aegis of NSCBIHL, guaranteeing a seamless transition into the new system.
